Beekhuizen 씨는 집에서 스테이킹하고 있는 검증자(validator)가 8만 7897개 존재하는 것으로 보고 있으며, 유니크 어드레스를 생각하면 홈스테이커가 평균 5.4개의 검증자를 실행하는 것으로 추측됩니다. PoS로 전환하면 이러한 홈스테이커의 소비전력은 1.64메가와트가 된다고 합니다. 또한 5만 2700건에 이르는 거래소와 가상화폐 서비스도 검증자를 실행하고 있는데, 이들은 PoS로 전환하면 0.98메가와트를 소비하게 됩니다.
총합하면 PoS로 전환한 이더리움은 2.62메가와트의 전력을 소비하게 되고, 이것은 기존의 소비전력을 99.95% 수준으로 삭감하는 것을 의미합니다. 지금까지 이더리움은 도시나 국가에 해당하는 전력을 소비한다고 지적되어 왔는데, 이 새로운 구조에 의해 일반가정으로 환산하여 약 2100세대 정도의 전력을 소비하게 된다고 합니다.
