새롭게 도입되는 '팔로우'는 웹사이트를 연 상태에서 Chrome 설정 메뉴를 열면 다음과 같이 '사이트 이름 (+ Follow)'라는 옵션이 표시됩니다. 이 옵션을 눌러 팔로우한 웹사이트에 새 게시물이 업데이트되면 새 탭의 'Following(팔로잉)'이라는 항목에 카드로 표시되어 업데이트를 쉽게 확인할 수 있습니다.
이 '팔로우'는 RSS 리더에 해당하는 기능인데, 구현에도 기존의 RSS 시스템을 사용했다고 합니다. Google은 Chrome Canary에서의 테스트를 종료하고 Chrome에 본격 도입할 때 웹게시자에게 RSS를 최신 상태로 유지하는 방법에 대한 지침을 제공할 예정이라고 밝혔습니다.
'팔로우'는 Android를 사용하는 미국의 Chrome Canary 사용자를 대상으로 2021년 6월 중에 테스트가 실시될 예정입니다. Google는 '팔로우'에 대해 "사용자와 웹게시자가 Chrome에서 더 깊은 관계를 가질 수 있도록 하는 시도"라고 취지를 설명합니다.
