Google에 따르면 "배우자나 형제, 자녀와 자신의 단말기를 공유하는 것은 세계 여러 곳에서 흔한 일'이라고 합니다. 그러나 다른 사람들이 자신의 개인적 파일에 액세스 할 위험이 있습니다.
그런 요구에 대응하기 위해 1억 5,000만 명이 사용하고 있다는 Android용 파일관리 앱 'Files by Google'에, 파일을 PIN코드로 보호된 'Safe Folder'폴더로 이동할 수 있는 기능을 구현했습니다. Safe Folder로 이동된 문서와 이미지, 비디오, 오디오 등의 각종 파일을 열 때는 4자리 PIN코드가 필요하여 타인으로부터 보호됩니다.
Safe Folder는 2020년 8월 셋째 주부터 Files by Google에 정식으로 구현될 예정이지만, 베타에는 이미 구현되어 있습니다. Files by Google은 다음 URL에서 설치 가능합니다.

Files by Google 베타버전을 설치하려면 화면 하단의 '베타테스트 참여'에서 '참여'를 누릅니다.
베타는 개발 중이기 때문에 동작이 불안정해질 수 있습니다.
